This obviously isn't a new idea but I just wanted to discuss possibilities under the new staff. What would be the downside in adding Dragon chain and legs? We could add them to the game and there would be zero ill effect on F2P pking, it would strengthen the PVM aspect of the game, it could also be designed to create a resource sink for P2P items thus giving skillers more options to farm and reason to play.
By making the NPC that drops these items P2P and extremely strong (something along the lines of the King Black Dragon). We could create a resource sink in some combination of sharks, super sets, rune arrows, blood runes, etc. By going P2P only we avoid draining pking supplies from the market. This give skillers additional reason to play as they have a lot more options farming resources that there is actually some type of market for. Now you could look at this from the perspective that the skillers will focus less on F2P supplies and switch over to supplying more P2P items. But I think that we would keep more people skilling and farming ultimately increasing the supply of everything including pking supplies. More people engaging in these activities equals more resources period. No skillers interested in playing here equals no supplies in the game.
Now in order to create a real resource sink the monster has to be very strong, something like the King Black Dragon. The chain and legs has to be very rare, much rarer than a Dragon Med currently is. The item would have to be rare enough so that prices held into the millions long-term. That way the return for using tons of sharks, etc is worth your time. The King Black Dragon is not farmed because the reward is not worth the time and resources worth farming it.
This would create long-term benefits to the game as well as create some new excitement and help the server rebound.
I wouldn't think that it would take much more than a color adjustment to the armour and utilizing NPCs we already have. Maybe increase the size or change the color of Fire Giants or something simple like that. I'm sure we can come up with something creative but yet tasteful to minimize the development aspect. It also doesn't take the developers time to create saya new dungeon for this. Maybe Zack or someone could build the dungeon.
I know we all like pking, but not every addition has to be pking related. Sometimes forcing an idea into pking takes away from the positive impact that it could have on the server which could have ultimately led to more pking. Put this new dungeon outside of wild. Let all types of players have access to it. Use it to create a more popular game in general. Then look to enhance pking in the future with the increased player base. This could also give us something to utilize our new cape benefits on. Which would be really nice if I had a purpose to use my cape, robin hood hat, these new dragon legs on.. Because right now everything is either easy kills or prayer pots and robes.
Just a concept. Maybe I'm wrong. But I think it is worth considering the advantages if designed properly.
The first problems I have with any better gear is that we don't have npcs big enough for that gear. Adding 1 wouldn't even make it worth it. We first need bigger bladder npcs to kill that apmoat kill the average player every battle. Then when you add the new gear it would Mae aenwe and have a use. Right now, dragon armor would be pointless and make players like 59s way up. I say we have the bigger npcs added first then we had bigger better items. This game was designed for players to reach level 70 at max. We need the higher lvl stuff before the drops come into play. Just my opinion
i've also mentioned making some boss-monsters that it takes a group to kill, because the "Bosses" of Runescape are a complete joke.
You'll always get those idiots that say "DON'T ADD STUFF TO RSC. IT WON'T BE RSC ANYMORE!!!!", and those same idiots are the ones who get bored of RSC/RSCL and quit/threaten to leave.
We need new boss monsters, new Items, new gear, and new zones to keep RSC feeling fresh.
There is not much to work for, except for skilling and getting rares..
The players of RSCL need more reasons to want to play RSCLegacy over any other server.
New content pleaseeeeeeee
100% agreement from me. New bosses mean my supplies sell. Plus it does seem easy in theory to achieve the new armour as well. Color current sprites red?
What about the possibility of trimmed rune/black armour or ranged+ gear?
New content will keep this server alive. Whether that be new bosses, new armour/weapons or new dungeons/minigames
Or new skills *caught caugh*
My opinion is that trimmed armor looks pretty silly.
I feel that Dragon chain and legs is very tasteful and something that we would have seen in original RSC had they not shifted their focus toward RS2 when they did.
I don't think we should go any further than Dragon med, chain, legs, square shield. Plus we can use our gantlets with chain.
We don't need no stupid quests designed in order to wear this gear. Just make it a drop. If we are concerned about with 59 staking scene. Then put a 90 defense requirement on the chain and legs.
Or maybe uping certain skills like mining / smithing to 110 / 120.
Making dragon armour Smith able? Give the skillers something.
A lot of people use android and its a big market so catering for that need would increase server flow.
PVM / skilling is 90% of that marketAdd in slayer? Maybe runecrafting? Or is that too far.
There is not much to work for, except for skilling and getting rares.. The players of RSCL need more reasons to want to play RSCLegacy over any other server.
This basically sums it up.
I would love to see new NPC added, something that would require resources. KBD is super easy to farm, so something bigger and badder than that. Even if you look at GW, the only danger there is Noosh or Vandal... Or occasional K9 clearing up the place. As far as the NPC and the positioning of the area, its basically AFK spot and required very little.
I think the items should follow the NPC. Make it work first, lets see how the resources move and then start adding drops or new items.
Also, a boss that requires TEAMWORK would be great. Not same IP 5 users logged in same time, but actual teamwork. Maybe even have it spawn at certain times, similar to CTF events?
For sure bigger bosses is a must. I only log in to pk lately. Well if there's nothing else for me to do I'm not gonna be online to jump in when random beef pops up to escalate the pk scene. Add some very tough bosses that drop something worth while and ill be there consuming resources and online when pk pops up. I think most pkers enjoy farming via pvm as well. I just think this is all around a great idea for the server with minimal development for the most part. End game PVM needs to be huge. Christ even make 1 new color phat perminantly drop from one of these bosses. Make it insane rare. Give guys something to go after end game and stay logged online more often. I would love to at least see Zack offer his opinion on this subject and share with us how feesable something like this may or may not be.
Definitely a new boss of some sort..also something in the wildy to spice things up and get people playing again.
New bosses won't mean squat with out some type of super rare reward. Just like the last boss we added in f2p under castle. Its cool for a couple weeks but after that there is no real draw to farm it. We need a boss that will drive players to farm long-term. GWs have been a solid addition and continue to be farmed regularly. They also do create a little bit pk on a regular basis for those who step into P2P. But we need more than a 1.3 million GP cape drop with a new boss if its going to have a large and lasting impact on the game. I think dragon chain and legs and maybe even a single unique color phat all dropped at rates much rarer than anything we currently have could create a large impact on the game. Its going to draw people in who don't log in regularly anymore, bring in new people chasing the items, and keep people currently playing engaged in the game for longer. Why couldn't the KBD get a new name and new color with increased HP, strength, etc. This dragon already drains prayer and will force players to use sharks, pots, etc. Making it stronger will get people using alts and burning rune and addy arrows. It would be nice to make magic nessicary but if that requires to much development we can make do with the way the KBD is only making it a little stronger. There has to be things we can do to get the required impact without a ton of development. And if there is we need to be focusing on these things first.
I agree, new monsters, new equipment, new items, new areas. Keeping all the original content of course. I don't even think it should follow content that has released in osrs. Obviously finish off the dragon set because its have complete, but then create brand new content. Like as if we were leaving off where jagex had started with classic and not knowing what they did next with it. You know? So don't add in quests that came with osrs, just create new.
